We're built on Aristotle's model of Greek ethos. To us, ethos represents moral character, and that's what we founded Ethos Hosting based on.
We are committed to conducting our business in an ethically and socially responsible manner and contributing positively to the community that supports it. For this reason, we donate 10% of all of our annual profits to an established charitable organization. You can choose a non-profit from our preferred list at checkout or we can make the choice on your behalf.
Preferred Organizations List
Ethos Hosting donates 10% of our annual profit to established charitable organization. We allow you to choose an organization from our preferred list at checkout to support or we will choose for you.
We've compiled a list of non-profit organizations that we support. In creating our preferred list, we looked for organizations with very low administration costs as a ratio of their program services cost. We also look for organizations which feature education and economic programs in addition to direct aid; this way we can ensure that the money we contribute goes to solving the root problems instead of postponing suffering.
Foundation for the People of Burma - The Foundation for the People of Burma provides humanitarian relief to the people of Burma regardless of ethnic background or religion. Their programs include Child Safety, Women's Empowerment, Community Development, and Health Outreach. Much of this foundation operates on the border of Burma in Thailand, helping the enormous number of refugees there.
Partnerships For Change (POC) - POC loves to advertise that "84 cents of every dollar goes directly to sustainable development and direct humaintarian programs," and we're inclined to believe it. POC runs at an incredibly low administration cost to services rendered ratio. POC is running a current program involving providing direct humanitarian aid to children, especially orphans, in Burma and Cambodia. The POC was famously one of the most successful programs to operate inside of Burma supporting 2008 cyclone victims, able to get inside Burma significantly before the United Nations.
Children Affected by AIDS Foundation - The mission of the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation is to make a positive difference in the lives of children infected with HIV and affected by AIDS. They serve the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Children Affected by AIDS Foundation accomplishes this by helping to meet their diverse needs, advocating and educating on their behalf, and bringing joy and fun into their lives. The foundation manages to provide $1,400,000 in services while running administration costs around $200,000. They run almost entirely on volunteers, with less than 10 full time employees.
Womens Learning Partnership for Rights Development and Peace (WLP) - Women's Learning Partnership is dedicated to women's leadership and empowerment. At its essence, WLP is a builder of networks, working with 18 autonomous and independent partner organizations in the Global South (Third World), particularly in Muslim-majority societies, to empower women to transform their families, communities, and societies.
Human Rights Watch - Human Rights Watch is dedicated to protecting the human rights of people around the world. HRW was originally created in response to the AIDS/HIV pandemic and is probably one of the most prominent proponents of human rights. They publish constant reports of human rights violations throughout the world, raising public awareness. Human Rights Watch has notably given voices to rape victims in the Middle East in the last decade and pushed for a root level cultural change to the social environment in Muslim nations.
